Endocrine Research
The Department of Physiology includes basic research in the area of endocrinology including elements of neuroendocrinology, molecular and developmental biology as well as reproductive and metabolic physiology. The endocrine system has evolved to integrate the function of cells in different parts of the body. This cell-to-cell communication is essential for numerous physiological processes. Physiology faculty investigate how hormonal cues coordinate development, reproduction, neuronal function, and metabolism.
