Cancer Research
The focus of basic science cancer research in the Department of Physiology is on cancers of the reproductive system, drawing on the department’s strength in Endocrine and Reproductive Physiology. Research focuses on ovarian, endometrial, prostate and other cancers of the reproductive tract. With strong clinical collaborations with our colleagues at SIU School of Medicine in Springfield, and our affiliation with the Simons Cancer Institute, research spans basic science bench to translational research to the patient’s bedside. The Department’s cancer researchers are Charter members of the Illinois-Indiana End Epithelial Ovarian Cancer Coalition (IIEEOCC) and members of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR).
